Insurance companies love seeing the building costs laid out with the best estimating software!

Insurance claims follow every disaster that affects your property. Included is a detailed look at repair and rebuilding costs. Xactimate is the industry-standard software, and here at Revere Construction and Roofing (RCR), we use it to estimate all of our jobs.

We prefer this computer software system for determining construction costs because it has become widely used by insurance companies in the past decade.

This article will outline all you need to know about the software, giving you a peek behind the curtain about ways RCR helps with your insurance claim!

What is Xactimate?

Xactimate is software used by the construction industry for estimating the totality of building costs.

From their website: “Xactimate, the industry’s most powerful and comprehensive solution for property claims estimation, is the number one choice for restoration professionals thanks to its accuracy and flexibility throughout all stages of the repair process.”

The software has a four-step process:

  1. Gather loss information
  2. Sketch a diagram of the structure
  3. Select the related project costs
  4. Review and verify estimate accuracy

Using the software shortens the insurance claim process, giving disaster sufferers money for repairs sooner, with less hassle!

Working with insurance companies

Insurance companies like Statefarm, Allstate, Erie, Chubb, Farmers all use Xactimate to see how contractors perform their work.

They need to make sure that the repair and rebuilding costs are priced at the proper market value.

At RCR, we make sure that all of our in-house estimators are certified in Xactimate. This training gives them the tools to compile the most extensive estimates for our customers.

Xactimate estimates help with every type of disaster.

Regardless of the type of damage your property has suffered, whether it’s water damage, mold damage, or fire damage, Xactimate software is critical in the restoration process.

The software works by highlighting the portions of your home that need work, estimating the costs involved with the materials and repair. It doesn’t matter how your property sustained the damage.

For example, if your wall needs replacing, a technician can estimate the repair costs independent of what type of disaster is responsible for damaging the wall in the first place.

This software is the preferred method of most insurance companies, meaning there are fewer issues with claims being processed by the insurance company.

We start every reconstruction job by sending our Xactimate files over to the homeowners’ Insurance company.

Form there, adjusters will then use the Xactimate estimate to match our calculated building damage, repair, and rebuilding costs.

Once the adjuster approves the Xactimate estimate, we will then communicate back with the homeowner about how much has been approved.

The Revere Construction and Roofing difference

When there is a significant restoration reconstruction project, most general contracting companies will bid out the work to multiple subcontractors who will give their price to restore the home to normal.

Here at RCR, we do not believe in using subcontractors solely to complete the repair. We do things differently, holding ourselves to a higher standard.

We use our in-house project managers and IICRC certified technicians to perform demolition and insurance repair.

Using the Xactimate software allows us to know the cost of performing the restoration reconstruction before the project begins.
